Yu-Ai Kai Capital Campaign

2005 - 2006

Honoring the Legacy, Building for the Future

Phase II Project Description: Acquire and Renovate 576 North Fourth Street.

By June 2007, we plan to acquire and renovate a 1,038 sq. ft. residential building on a 5,400 sq. ft. lot located next door to Yu-Ai Kai. The new Wellness Center will offer health education, recreational activities and therapeutic support groups for seniors. The spacious yard in the rear of the residence will be used for outdoor fitness activities and other new therapeutic programs for healthy and active seniors. Securing this property is vital both to expand services and to prevent future incompatible use that might affect the peace and safety of our seniors.

Wellness Center Benefits:
  • Offer new preventive health programs through education, therapeutic support groups and recreational activities plus new outdoor fitness programs.

  • Expand our caregiver Support Groups with short term individual and family counseling, outreach, prevention and resource referral.

  • Offer M.D. and Nurse visits/consultation for foot care/diagnosis and preventive education presentations.

  • Expand Physical Therapy with a licensed physical therapist and alternative health programs such as Tai-chi, Qi-gong, Yoga and Reiki.

  • Offer indoor and outdoor exercise training led by a certified San Jose State University fitness instructor specializing in senior wellness.

  • Provide retirement and financial planning seminars with independent experts who understand the cultural concerns of our seniors and their families.
